Hyderabad based Filmmaker Nikhil Acharya’s latest short film “Untitled” will be premiered during the 2nd International Youth Media Summit to be held in Sydney, Australia from the 1st to the 7th of July, 2007. Nikhil Acharya is the only Indian filmmaker selected to participate in this International Summit, which will be attended by 32 filmmakers from across the globe.

In the 2nd International Youth Media Summit (IYMS), selected young filmmakers from various countries, including Sweden, the U.K., Netherlands, the U.S.A and Australia, will collaborate and produce films on various issues which are Violence, Poverty, Racism, Environment, Health, Women’s Rights & Youth Empowerment.

Nikhil’s film ‘Untitled’ is a ten minute montage of the various contradictions and dilemmas of modern day life. It captures instances of epiphany in the lives of everyday people in complex circumstances. Often hard-hitting and poetic, the film looks at different aspects of our lives in a completely new and fresh perspective. Shot on High Definition (HD), the film sees Nikhil taking on un-chartered territories in a unique style. This is his 8th short film. He has been making films since 2005.

His earlier film on Racism, ‘Colorblind’ was screened during the 1st International Youth Media Summit held last year in July, in Los Angeles, U.S.A. He worked with other filmmakers from Scotland, Israel, Sweden, Italy and Germany to make a Public Service Announcement (PSA) Film on Racism, which has been screened at numerous film festivals, including the 2007 International Family Film Festival at Raleigh Studios, Hollywood. Nikhil was also invited as a member of the Jury for the 36th Roshd International Film Festival in Tehran, Iran in November 2006.

Young Hyderabad film maker, Nikhil Acharya has been invited to be a part of the Jury of the 36th Roshd International Film Festival, to be held in Tehran, Iran, from the 3rd to the 10th of November.

19-year-old Nikhil was selected based on his achievements as a filmmaker, which include being the only South Asian Teen Filmmaker to participate the IRMAS International Youth Media Summit in Los Angeles, USA in July 2006. He also participated in the Global Young Leaders Conference held in the USA in June 2005.

Nikhil's films have also been appreciated in International Film Festivals. His films have been screened in numerous cities around the world, including Los Angeles, Washington DC, New York City & Toronto. His latest short film on racial discrimination,"Color Blind"was screened recently in LosAngeles,USA.Nikhil started making short films in 2004 and has made 7 short films.Nikhil is currently pursuing his Bachelor's in Commerce from Bhavans' Vivekananda College in Sainikpuri. He is the son of Mrs. Ranjeev Acharya, Secretary (Finance), Govt. of Andhra Pradesh and Mr. B.P.Acharya, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, APIIC.
