The cost for cremating a body in the electric crematorium requires Rs. 600, whereas it is Rs. 950 for the adjacent crematorium, where wood is used. And usually for those who have had natural death, a letter from a municipal councillor is mandatory. For unnatural deaths, a copy of the FIR and letter from the Police is usually called for. The Corporation has appointed two furnace operators and a watchman-cum-cleaner at this place, which is open for 24 hours everyday, throughout the year. The furnace operators explain that there are two chambers in the crematorium, each of which works in 40-kilowatt power.
